Coffee for the children
February 18th, 2008 by Francis ZabalaOne of the shops I go to waste my hard earned money is Starbucks. I go there not for the coffee but by there other products like the mug my girlfriend gave me and the planner that you’ll get when you spend around 2700 pesos worth of stickers. The mug is great because I can customize the design and stuff.
What I don’t like is that Starbucks uses a lot of plastic and paper for their customer’s coffee which means more pollution. I really don’t get why don’t they offer first if the customers wants to use a mug or something else that isn’t made of paper or plastic to hold their hot beverages. And to think they have Project SparkHope for the children, they should’ve also prioritized the safety of the environment. As more customers want to get the planner/journal, more and more plastic and paper cups are used and more trees are cut down and more plastic are produced. I wonder what will the children of Project SparkHope will feel that their new homes are built at the expense of more garbage.
I wish Starbucks would offer first to use their mugs as their coffee holders rather than just giving them their coffee on a plastic mug. At least, they’d offer customers that and say that it’s better for the environment.

one of the pages in their planner encourages customers to ask their barista to serve their drinks in a for-here mug. but yeah, it would make a big difference if the barista would offer it… they’re just lazy, they don’t want extra dishes. ehehehe…?

Ha! There should be a corporate rule from starbucks that’ll make the barista offer for-here mug first.
