Insectarium!

What kind of spider is this?

Can someone help me identify this spider? He/She lives in my apartment before I moved in. He/she is really big! When I was a kid, I normally play with Daddy Long Legs and the common spiders found in the houses here in the Philippines. Most of the time, I play with the spiders and compete with the other kids so normally I am not scared of spiders. Except for this one, it’s huge and I am not even sure if it’s poisonous!

Free PDF!

Yup! That’s right! They are giving away their Photoshop book for free! I don’t know why. I just received in from my email. I don’t know why! The odd thing is, they emailed me that information from my alternative email account, not the email I used to buy “Principles of a Beautiful Web Design”. Anyway, catch it know!

*Note: I still haven’t received my email where the link to download is there. Probably their networks are jammed.

BENECO Office Hours

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

Why post something about BENECO’s office hours? Well… here’s what happened. I just got out from work around 5:30pm and it was the last day of payment for my electric bill or it’ll be overdue. I didn’t know what time will they be closed. So I hurried back to my apartment to get the bill’s receipt and zoomed to the nearest BENECO collection center, which is near Baguio City’s City Lights.

I don’t know the name of the street… anyway… the collection center is not part of my Baguio. My Baguio, the only places I had gone to, is Trancoville, Aurora Hill, Bonifacio Street, Session Road, Harrison, Nevada Square and PEZA. I have to ride any jeep going up Session Road and get off near Baguio City Cathedral and have to walk down hill from Upper Bonifacio Street to get to the collection center. I have to walk runningly because it’s starting to rain. It’s not just a drizzle! It was like a huge drops of water falling from the darkened cloudy twilight sky. (more…)

iPhone to be officially launched in the Philippines

Tuesday, May 13th, 2008

Yes, the official availability of Apple’s iPhone will be available this year by Globe Telecoms. It will be released locally by Globe around September.

According to Globe Telecom’s website, they have signed an agreement with Apple to officially bring the iPhone here in the Philippines.

Unofficial iPhones have already reached the shores of the Philippines. They cost around PHP30,000 - PHP35,000. Even if they are available here in the Philippines, I’d rather buy an official version to avoid the hassle of unlocking, hacking and other stuff that may brick an iPhone.

Fastfood vesus Fastfood.

I received a newsletter from MSN Health. Here’s a comparison of fast food places where some foods are healthier done others.

Breakfast Sandwich

Eat This:

McDonald’s Egg McMuffin
300 calories
12 g fat

Not That:

Starbucks Classic Sausage, Egg & Aged Cheddar Breakfast Sandwich
460 calories
25 g fat

Save 160 calories and 13 grams of fat!

In the nutritional hierarchy of breakfast breads, English muffins beat bagels and croissants every time. As for meats, bacon tops sausage, and ham trounces them both. Replace the sausage with ham and you could save up to 500 calories a week from breakfasts alone. Case in point: Starbucks has a ham version of this sandwich that weighs in at 380 calories. (more…)
